24 Hour Video Installation
Showcasing work together: A Digital Contact List, Digital Rebirth, A Second Brain, Blended Entities, The Speed Of Social Media.

A 24 hour film observing a 9 screen installation. Consisting of 5 short films, each with a narrative aiming to explore a different area of the increasingly digital reliance with are forming.

Comparing the identities we portray in the digital sphere with real life is like doing a maths equation with and without a calculator. I tried comparing my digital capabilities with my physical capabilities - it proved quite difficult to find things you are better at in the real world. I have endless possibilities and knowledge online whereas physically I am just left with my raw limited knowledge.

During this project I explored different narratives revolving around our identities and experiences within the digital realm.

Consisting of:

  1. How we contact and connect with our family and friends.

  2. The potential for us as individual to create any identity we desire online.

  3. Exploring the possibility of digitally immortalising the deceased in a 3D form.

  4. Accepting the fact that digital technology has become an extended limb of our body.

  5. Reflecting the speed and ease of connecting across the world via social media.

The outcome is a 9 screen installation (the average amount of screen that are in a UK household) set up in a home environment, showcasing the 5 narratives. I then made a 24 hour film of the installation to suggest that digital media never sleeps as well as acting as a suggestive clock.

Grad Show Installation

Mimicking the layout of the 24 hour installation as well as using the 24 hour film as part of the Grad Show Installation.

Having the opportunity to showcase the 24 hour film felt like such an achievement for me, it allowed me to showcase all the hardworking that went into this project.

The intentions for the 24 hour film was to emphasise that digital technology never sleeps, and for it to work as a suggestive clock, and the show allowed me to do just that.

It was so enjoyable to be able to see members of the public interacting with my installation.
